How to Connect Matbia to Donor Fuse

Matbia is a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) that provides "Charity Cards" to its users. Donor Fuse supports direct integration with Matbia so you can accept Matbia cards for donations seamlessly.

Follow these steps to connect your Matbia account and enable Matbia card processing in Donor Fuse.

Step 1: Obtain Your Matbia API Key or Tax ID

  • If your organization has only one Matbia account, you can simply enter your Tax ID in Donor Fuse and the system will connect automatically. You do not need to enter an API Key.
  • If your organization has multiple Matbia accounts, you will need to contact Matbia support to obtain an API key for each account you wish to connect.

Step 2: Add Matbia as a Gateway in Donor Fuse

  1. In your Donor Fuse dashboard, go to Settings.
  2. Click Gateway Accounts.
  3. Click Add New Gateway Account.
  4. In the popup:
    • Type: Select Matbia from the dropdown.
    • Internal Name: This is a required field. Enter a name such as matbia. If you have more than one Matbia account, use a unique name for each (e.g., matbia-main, matbia-events).
    • Tax ID: Enter your organization's Tax ID if you have only one Matbia account.
    • API key: If you have more than one Matbia account, enter the API Token you received from Matbia support. (If you enter both Tax ID and API Token, the API Token will take priority.)
    • Processing Fee Category (Optional): If you have the Donor Fuse Accounting Module enabled, you will see this optional field. Use it to select which fee account category should be used for transaction fees in batch deposits. (The system automatically generates deposits based on batch deposits to the bank.)
    • Multi-Currency Settings: If your Donor Fuse account supports multiple currencies:
      • Statement Currency: Only USD is supported.
      • Accepted Process Currencies: Only USD is supported.
    • All other fields are optional. Fill them in only if you have specific requirements.
  5. Click Save New Gateway Account to complete the setup.

Step 3: Test Your Integration

  1. Enter a small test transaction in Donor Fuse using a Matbia card to confirm the connection is working.
  2. Check the transaction status in both Donor Fuse and your Matbia merchant portal.

Troubleshooting:

  • If you encounter any error while testing or processing a payment using this gateway, check the error message.
    • If the error message starts with Processing Error: {error message}, this means the error is from the gateway (Matbia). Please contact their support directly.
    • If the error message does not start with Processing Error:, contact Donor Fuse support.
  • You can always reach out to Donor Fuse support to help verify the issue if you are unsure.
