Overview:
Integrating Donary devices with Donor Fuse lets you collect donations anywhere and keep your donor, campaign, and fundraising data organized in one place. Donor Fuse does not charge for this integration; contact Donary for device and integration pricing.
Step 1: Obtain Your Donary Integration Credentials
Contact your Donary representative to get:
- Org GUID
- API Key
Step 2: Create the Donary Source ID Field in Donor Fuse
To ensure accurate donor matching, you first need to create a custom Source ID field in Donor Fuse.
Follow these steps:

- Click Settings from the main navigation menu.
- Select Modules.
- Next to “All”, click the three dots ⋮ and choose Edit.
- Go to the Custom Fields tab.
- Click the Add Custom Field button.
- Enter a clear name for the field, such as Donary ID.
- Set the field type to Source ID (select this from the dropdown).
- Click Save New Custom Field to create the field.
Step 3: Prepare and Import Donor Data
This step ensures donor records are matched across both systems:
- Export Donors from Donary:
- In your Donary account, export your donor list and include the Source ID (Donary account number) for each donor.
- Update Donor Fuse Records:
- If you already have donors in Donor Fuse, edit their profiles to add the matching Donary Source ID to the custom field you created in Step 2.
- Import Donary Donors into Donor Fuse:
- If you are importing new donors, use Donor Fuse’s import feature and map the Donary Source ID to your new custom field.

- Click Get New API Key to finish setup.
Understanding the Sync Contacts Setting
The Sync Contacts setting controls how donor information is shared between Donary and Donor Fuse:
- Sync Contacts OFF (default):
- Donor Fuse will only receive new donors or donor details from Donary.
- If a donor already exists in Donor Fuse (matched by Source ID), only the donor’s ID is received from Donary. Updates to donor information in Donary will not be sent to Donor Fuse.
- If Donor Fuse cannot match the donor by Source ID, a new donor record will be created in Donor Fuse using only the Donary Source ID.
- Sync Contacts ON:
- All donor changes made in Donor Fuse (such as new donors or updates to existing donor records) will be sent to Donary.
- Updates made in Donary will not be synced back to Donor Fuse.
- For best results and data consistency, always update donor records in Donor Fuse, not in Donary.
- If you want Donary devices to have access to the latest donor information from Donor Fuse (for example, to search donors by phone number on the device), turn Sync Contacts ON.
Sync Details for Campaigns and Fundraisers
This section explains how Donary and Donor Fuse keep your campaigns and fundraisers organized:
- Campaigns:
When a donation comes in, Donor Fuse tries to match it to an existing campaign by name. If there’s no match, Donor Fuse creates a new campaign automatically. - Fundraisers:
When a donation is linked to a fundraiser, Donary includes the fundraiser’s Source ID in the transaction. Donor Fuse will:- Check if a fundraiser with that Source ID already exists.
- If there is a match, the donation is linked to that fundraiser.
- If there is no match, Donor Fuse creates a new fundraiser record and assigns it the provided Source ID. This process ensures that fundraisers are matched and tracked based on their Source ID, not by name. This avoids duplicate fundraiser records and keeps your fundraising data accurate and organized.
- If Sync Contacts is ON:
All campaign updates made in Donor Fuse are sent to Donary, so you can use and manage campaigns in both systems.
Best Practices & Final Notes
